I want to share with you how my health story has become our health education story at MoveMentation. My name is Adrian VanKeuren and my hope is that the gifted teachers at MoveMentation will become part of your own health story.
I have always felt a calling to teach and to continue my life long learning journey, so after high school I pursued a college degree in education. With two associate degrees on my resume my plans to continue higher learning changed dramatically in 2007. I, like so many others, had an encounter with a tick. The tick bite led to contracting lyme disease, babesiosis, and bartonellosis, and led to over a decade of chronic, debilitating illness.
Early in my battle to regain my health, I joined a local support group led by lyme advocate Lucy Miller, and it changed the trajectory of my life. This was an opportunity to rejoin my path and channel my desire to help others through research and teaching. The experience of educating through community service and advocating against the many misconceptions surrounding lyme disease was deeply satisfying and helped rebuild the foundation for who I am and what I do today.
Working alongside Lucy shaped both my advocacy and my leadership abilities, and it was a natural evolution for me to assume that role when she passed, continuing to grow the group over the next 11 years into one of the most active in the eastern US before handing the reins to my successor.
The next step of my recovery introduced me to a local tai chi instructor, Victor Franco, at various health fairs in the area during my advocacy years. While I was hesitant to engage in learning something physical due to my ongoing exhaustion, my mother expressed interest in the art of Tai Chi after seeing a documentary on its benefits. We decided to learn together and attended classes twice weekly. Noticing my health steadily improving I began to research the connections between movement, energy balance, and recovery. I began to understand the holistic approach to healing, which was the early stage of development for some of MoveMentation’s programming.
Franco saw my dedication to the art of tai chi, and to the growing body of scientific understanding of its many benefits. I started with Franco on a scholarship basis as a personal student with a commitment to growing this important healing art through teaching as my own health continued to improve. Steadfast learning and daily practice over time lead to growing responsibilities in the dojo and to becoming a fully certified tai chi instructor.
My journey of learning and teaching and advocacy continues. I now hold a Level 3 Instructor certification with the American Tai Chi and Qigong Association, Reiki master certification, qigong certifications, and am completing a medical qigong practitioner certification. I’ve created a wonderfully fulfilling business teaching tai chi and qigong, locally and across the country, alongside a healing clinical practice and ongoing advocacy for lyme education.
Over the years I’ve been teaching, one recurring thread bothers me deeply. Time and again students have attended classes and workshops and started down their own route to recovery, only to later have an economical road block of having to choose between daily living costs and the expense of health care.

Lynn, an avid golfer, moved to the Winchester area from Texas in late 2021 after retiring from a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry. She obtained her MBA from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, and quickly moved into environmental services and human resources; her native people and organizational skills made her a top choice for senior positions, allowing her to rise to senior director and vice-president roles in supply and distribution chains, human resources, and health and safety divisions. Lynn’s linear thinking skills combined with her management style make her an asset at any business.
